Welcome To Thoroughbred Rehabilitation, Retirement and Careers
A Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Sanctuary and Placement Program
TRRAC is a 501(c)3 non-profit Thoroughbred sanctuary, rescue and aftercare program dedicated to the safe retirement, rehabilitation and re-homing of thoroughbred race horses when they are retired from their racing careers as well as thoroughbred horses in need of placement or a safe place to go when their owners can no longer care for them.
Our mission is to preserve and protect retiring race horses from abuse, neglect and threat of horrific slaughter by providing safe and dignified retirement, sanctuary, rehabilitation and retraining when they are finished their racing careers and approving safe and new homes.
TRRAC was established in the late fall of 2012, by Maui Meadow Farm, the oldest Thoroughbred farm in the state of Pennsylvania since 1946, to provide a stepping stone to "take care of our own".
Our program is situated on 65 acres in Chester County, Pennsylvania and includes ample fields, an indoor swimming pool for therapy, large stalls for rehabilitation, a cross country field for training, trails, jump field and a flat ring. Our mission is to provide dignified retirement, provide rehabilitative or urgent care and to seek proper and safe homes for our horses in need. We cater to a number of horses who are in need of long term medical and rehabilitative care, eventually healing our horses and teaching them new careers such as family pleasure mounts as well as eventually adopting them out to their new homes.

About Our Horses
Our horses come from all sorts of
situations in life.
Most are turned into our program directly from the track, our program being trusted by many owners and trainers. Many have retired and ready for a home right away and some are in need of rehabilitative care for injuries.
Some horses who find us have been abused and are in dire need of a sanctuary where they can heal and find proper homes. Others are rescued from situations such as abuse, slaughter and auction pipelines.
Other horses simply come to us because their owners run into unfortunate life instances where they cannot financially support their horses any longer.
One thing is clear- they are offered sanctuary, rehabilitative care, professional training and find approved, caring and loving homes.
Many owners and trainers bring their horses to us to re-home as they have no means to do it themselves after the horse is finished their racing careers. These trainers trust us to do right by their horses and take pride in knowing we will keep them updating and connect them with their horse's new owners after re-homing. Our mission is to disrupt the pattern of thoroughbreds entering auctions and making their way into the slaughter pipeline.
Every horse who enters our program is tracked for their entire lifetime, as well as offered to return to our facility at anytime, NO questions asked.
